Audio eBooks + iTunes = Trend

December 30, 2007

Brilliance AudioDear ePublishers,

I keep my ear to the ground and read The Good, The Bad and The Unread. The article on Audio Books was fascinating and something I had never focused on much. Besides working with people to get text to voice in regards to reading PDF files with your ears. Which I wish ePublishers would stop locking that feature. You know how much money I spent for a tool to fix that? Yes, nothing is sacred to the Pig when it comes to the sight impaired. You show me your sacred cow and I will bring the barbecue sauce.

One thing struck me about that article was the number of times Brilliance Audio came up in regards to great Audio Books. Which with my other addiction of roving around iTunes looking for cool new artists made me think (Yeah, it hurt too.) of combining two of my favorite things.

eBooks on Audio! I mean, taking an eBook to print is great and all that but feeding a new trend could put an ePublisher or an eAuthor right up there with the best and sales on iTunes after this last Christmas should be getting even better.

Hey, even Nora Roberts is on Brilliance Audio and iTunes. Imagine handing out iPod Shuffles with your latest best sellers. eBook listening stations? Satellite/Internet Radio Ads?

I would love to see someone do it with an eBook. So tell me people, do you think having Audio eBooks published would draw even more eAuthors to an ePublisher?

With Love, Teddypig

How odd is it that I was just wondering if an audio book of Lord John could be downloaded to my i pod?Is it even possible? That is my next big hope for catching up on my TBR.
Hey! I am using my tx! So fucking cool, tho labor intensive.

I know my Spice antho will be an audio book available through itunes. It’s odd to listen to a very graphic sex scene read by a lot of the “audio actors” (and I read from my books’ smuttiest scenes at Babeland in March, it’s sort of fun)

Still, it can be done, it IS being done and I’m generally in support of books being in multiple formats. I think it might be another avenue to attract readers to ebooks.

Thanks for pimpin’ my Aural Pleasures series, Pig! Since I am obviously an audio book addict, I say YES, bring ‘em on! But I have to tell you that the most enjoyable erotic scenes for me are the ones where the narrator uses an upper-class English accent. There’s something about detailed nipple sucking techniques being read in that veddy proper British accent that just sends me into 12-year-old giggle mode!

I love audiobooks but they are expensive to make. The ones that don’t use professional voice talent are normally excruciating to listen to.

Got something to say?
