I don’t care what they did and I don’t even care what they thought they were doing.
Did anyone bother to check what they had done after they did whatever it was they did?
It’s called Q/A!
Teddypig Web Page Rule #1: Any business website that takes longer than 15 seconds to load is a failure. I counted 25 and 30 second load times on Ellora’s Cave and I am on a relatively fast internet connection. YOU FAIL!
Oh Ellora’s Cave: Professionals also use things like Change Windows, Load Testing, Backout Plans and Test Sites.

I thought it was my connection that was the problem. I have a standard DSL line (not high speed obviously) and the page was still not loaded after 4 minutes. Also what is up with the ambiguous categories.

Oh thank heaven. I thought it was only my connection, and I have a fast computer and broadband internet. And the genres got substituted by lines no one can recognise, while the explanation tries to load (and fails, depending on the browser). I like that on the coming soon page I can already read the blurbs, but the genre reference on the book pages got cut. BLEARGH. While I wasn’t a fan of the old colour scheme, at least it was kind of easy to navigate and clear.

I just feel sad for the authors at Ellora’s.
It’s not like you can go over to Fictionwise and buy the eBooks from them.
So the longer they play games with the Ellora’s Cave website the less the authors make.
I would think long and hard before letting them publish another book you were counting on to pay the rent.

I’m an IT professional (in a break from a training class at the moment. LOL!!!) and I 100% completely and totally agree with you. You DO NOT make major changes AND THEN announce a crazy end of year sale without doing some serious testing.
Certainly makes you wonder about other things if the basic tennant of IT which is test!test!test!test! can’t be followed properly.

They don’t pay my rent (although they do make up a major part of my writing income) and I have no idea why they felt the need to change sites.
The Ellora’s Cave site loaded well, was easy to use and had an obvious name.
Who is going to look for EC books at a place called Jasmine-Jade?
As of last night, they’d moved e-book sales back to Ellora’s Cave and only print at Jasmine Jade. At this point, 2 days of disruption in the move is forgiveable. (Maybe I’m used to fan sites and the old internet where “coming soon” could take months or years)
If it lasts longer than a week, we’ll worry.
