Kindle 2.0

Let me not be the one to not follow some savvy viral marketing.

So here is a picture obtained by The Boy Genius Report of the proposed next Kindle base model from a few months ago. Supposedly the new Kindle base model is thinner and snazzier in style but with the same size screen while also projected to be priced closer to $250.00.

Then there was a report from Engadget of a second version. A Collegiate Model with a screen size like a 8.5 x 11-inch sheet of paper. I want to see that one.

All of this was rumored to emerge early this year so let me know if you hear anything.

I hope the price does go down! Way down so I can afford one lol. Although if I had bought one in December at the old price and a new model comes out over 100 bux cheaper I’d be pissed.

Hey, early adopters have to handle that happening. I bought one of the original iPhones.
I never did get to use that $100.00 rebate from Apple. I still LOVE my iPhone.

Everything in this post is rumor and speculation till Amazon says boo but this type of cost lowering after it becomes successful goes with the gadget territory and is actually a good sign.

I like those kind of rumors.
I was reading tonight on google news how Sony is claiming a loss for the entire year. If they put out an e-reader that was more affordable they’d tap into a market that would probably put them back in black.

A good e-reader around 100-150 bux would be awesome. Any higher and most readers in lower-middle income choose to go ahead and buy a laptop instead no matter how badly they want a kindle or sony.

The Kindle v2 should hopefully attract a bigger audience too, the Kindle v1 is a niche product appealing mostly to bookworms. I think with the Kindle v2 Amazon is targeting a much bigger market like students and people who read a lot of technical documents. Lowering the price to $250 will also attract more customers for Amazon.
