Amazon Kindle

OH SHIT!

Amazon has bought Stanza.

Now this does make sense. Unlike other iPhone centric platforms the Stanza desktop program (Which I never saw much discussion of it’s abilities beyond most of the other desktop apps…) allowed a one size fits all automatic transferring and formating of non-DRM eBook files between a PC and Mac and the iPhone or Kindle.

Most people were only aware of the iPhone App and did not notice the Kindle connectivity afforded by the desktop. They also always missed the fact that the Stanza desktop app allowed Mac users to finally read Microsoft centric non-DRM eBook formats on their Macs.

So this purchase gives Amazon their missing desktop app. The sad part is I was hoping that someone like B&N would jump on this since it would complete a separate channel of distribution for them.

This just adds more functionality to Amazon in the end.
