Elonex eBook Reader

Elonex is partnering with Borders UK to introduce a new 6 inch eBook reader to the market. Comes with a 4gb memory card and uses Adobe Digital Editions much like the Sony. Price looks like £189 ($311). Hey, that includes a charger and cover and memory card unlike Sony’s rip off 505 deal.

Oh sorry, you want to charge the Sony 505 using a wall plug? That will be $30 extra and a cover for it will cost you $40 more. Oh, you want a memory card too? Well that’ll be… Such a deal! Fuck Sony!

We have 3 Borders stores here so fingers crossed it happens here soon. There was even a news article on the TV the other week about ebook readers – so I am hoping we might get them into the country (also know as the land time forgot) soon. I have tested stanza out on the spawns ipod touch and while good, it might be a wee bit small. Want to actually try and read a whole book on it, but he does rarely lets it out of his sight!

The TV article also showed a printing press for print on demand and a few shops here were making mutterings about it being the big new thing. Can you imagine? Going into a shop, buying your pdf and having it printed 30 minutes later ready for you to take home? Now that would be cool!!

I thought all the Sony’s came with covers but Kindle didn’t? Is this something new with the Sony?

It does not come with the lighted cover. The worst has to be Sony not including the charger cord though.

Nice to see other manufacturers have picked up on those cheap things people like to have. I mean even including that cheap memory card is a big bonus. It would not have cost Sony much to have done these simple things. Oh well, they have never been the brightest bulbs.
