Scivener Writer Tool

I usually write about the latest tools for eBook readers but today since my friend LBea is on the fence about getting a Mac Laptop I wanted to republish this post.

So let me Da Pig show you a useful tool for those eBook writers out there.
Many of my friends who write eBooks have actually gone out and changed their whole computing setup to Macs just to use this handy dandy writing tool of the gods Scrivener.

Scrivener itself costs a whole $39.95 and there is also a fully functional download and tryout period of 30 days to see if this little writing powerhouse can work for you in writing your next blockbuster.

Reports seem to indicate that once used the writer will never go back to the blank Word doc screen ever again.

From my own experience Scrivener is all about collecting all those research links and scene pictures and that brilliant idea you had after the third shot of Jose Cuervo at the bar that you wrote on the toilet paper while worshiping the porcelain god and other scraps of ideas and that hilarious dialog you over heard at the last family reunion (AKA The war of the noses) and smacking them all together till they start to form the outline and chapters of that first draft of your next great romance novel.

So if you use a Mac or have recently bought one and write for a living give this baby a shot.

I know I’m using it nowhere near it’s full potential, but I agree, it’s one great little piece of software- if only for the fact that you can put all your research into it. Photos of characters, places, items, links to research web pages.

I’m just about to go out of the trial period (which is 30 days of USING it, not just 30days from the day you opened up the program) and I’ll be laying down my 39.95 :)

Try the chapter outline there Anne!

Oh! And the different colors for the POV.

It’s not just the ebook authors, as some of my friends on the print sf side swear by it.

I’m not tempted by it, as I don’t think that way when writing and Lotus Word Pro suits me just fine, but I can still see why a couple of my friends are in “prise from my cold dead hands” mode over it. And yes, the colour-tracking on POV has been mentioned as one of the benefits.

Uh. The jury is out until the bank statement comes. If you know what I mean.

    Please hold.
