Dull chimes ringing
Like an empty voice
A distant smile framed
Her lips are soft and moist
With your whispers
Whispering whispers
Elton John ~ Whispers
We don’t expect to have it up before September, but it might go faster than we expect.
Pssst! Look at that original front cover. September 11th is my guess.

I am not sure what you mean, Teddy – is this being republished? Am I missing some point due to not paying attention?

This is one of my favorite books of all time! I’ll be ecstatic if it’s being reissued. My old copy’s held together with scotch tape and rubber bands!

Nope sorry MZB copyrighted September 11th look at the cover. I had to apply for special permission to use that day for my birthday.
So all other events happening on September 11th shall be ignored.

I’m fricken mesmerized by the book covers (and occasionally I selfishly squee when I see my own) but NEUROMANCER WOOOT. And Snow Crash. Mwah Mwah. ..uhm…we should do a post on the Men of August. Just because.

Ah! The movie of THE most boring book in the series. I can only hope the movie is better than the book or the final death makes up for all the other torture at least.

Yeah, I have been keeping track of what is showing up in eBook format.
I know they are DRM eBooks but some are worth even fucking putting up with crappy DRM to have.

Call me shallow but I love the way they’re holding hands. Well, not holding hands per se. More like gripping each other’s wrist. I don’t know why, but I like the implicit trust and strength in their stance.
Or maybe I’m reading way too much into the green spandex here.

Oh I agree! In fact parts of it have not aged well since she had written on it for years in fact her biography said that the early parts were written during the decade the book starts out in.
It’s like I know all those flaws and skim through them myself and yet I still feel it is like a summary of the best parts of what today is considered M/M Romance but also a summary of it’s worst traits. As I tell people, it’s not perfect and not many things are but it is simply one of the firsts and an important one to me.
But… Think about that Emily, this was her baby. Her pet project. She dragged this thing around with her and finally when she had gotten acclaim for fantasy like The Mists of Avalon and sci-fi like the Darkover series she basically forced them to publish this a Gay Circus Romance.
That is fascinating to me. It’s like Nora Roberts secretly writing a cookbook for most of her life and finally it’s published and everyone goes WTF?

Nat, I have this book too. I got it for the cover. I’ve always loved the hand holding and the way that they are looking at each other. Esp. the guy on the right, so sweet, maybe only a little of it’s the spandex?

Well The Catch Trap did not just come out of no where. Marion had been collecting circus stories and loved trapeze artists from her youth and she kept huge amounts of memorabilia concerning it. She had researched well known families in the circus and how the whole show circuit worked during the golden era which she shows in the book etc etc. Anyway, I really only found out more about all this stuff only because her friends came forward to talk about her after her death.
Sad to find out that way but it just makes her even more interesting to me.

I always thought that she did the standard research, I had no idea. The fact that she was so riveted by trapeze artists and carted around a m/m novel that was a personal obsession just adds to the fascination for me. I’ve always liked her work, but the look inside the mind of an author is always interesting and this time, really cool.
