So in your living room you have this expensive Sony PS3 all plugged into your full blown home stereo and HDTV. In the office upstairs you have your trusty old Mac with iTunes.
Both sit on your network router with uPNP enabled. Be sure to check that setting.
Used to be they would not ever talk to each other but that was before iTunes turned off DRM to their music files. So now for a reasonable $20.00 download Nullriver MediaLink and your PS3 can make beautiful music from your Mac iTunes music library on your home stereo. You my friend have entered the realm of point and click media servers without a geek card. Just tell all your friends it took you weeks to set it up right.
It’s just that simple really EXCEPT for iTunes Movies or TV Shows they still have DRM. That sucks so if you want your whole DVD library on demand and have the hard disk space on your Mac learn what HandBrake (For unencrypted DVDs) and MacTheRipper (For encrypted DVDs) can do for you. Connect those dots yourself because that is a whole post of pain to explain.
Hack the planet!
