I hate Adobe’s “everything and the kitchen sink” mentality which is why I generally stay away from using most of their programs except Photoshop and even that can be painful at times waiting for it to load on the computer.
Anyway, this guy Joseph Cox has provided a utility here to tell Adobe Reader what plugins you want it to load and thus speed up the process of starting it in Windows at least. If you are not sure what each plugin does it will tell you. No Mac OSX solution yet, but at least some of you Windows people can have more control over the beast that is Adobe Reader.
You Mac OSX people are using the Firefox PDF plugin for Mac OSX right?
