I have been following the overseas hijinks of The Amazon Kindle over on Monkey Bear Reviews. Let’s just say WHAT A MESS and again Amazon is not spelling out what you will get for your money and what ebooks you will be able to buy etc etc. Plus I hear these are just the repackaged US version (Think power supplies. Yeah not good.)
So in essence you are paying top dollar for a poorly thought out and badly planned product that you will pay more for than the US customers. Not something I would spend a cent on. Good work selling more iPhones Jeff!

The Kindle isn’t a device that I would consider buying even if it did become available in New Zealand. The whole Kindle scenario does absolutely nothing for me – Amazon’s pricing, limited format options, Amazon’s ability to delete books without any consultation etc is completely off-putting.

Yep, I am totally disillusioned. I’m curious to see how the first international customers react to their Kindles and what it actually costs them to download books, newspapers, etc.
It disturbs me that Amazon are making it so difficult for customers to get straight answers. It shouldn’t require the press to get them to fess up to certain costs. I’m also betting that many international customers are unaware of geographic restrictions and what they mean in terms of the availability of newer releases.
