Amazon’s North America segment sales were up 23 percent from third quarter 2008, whereas international segment sales, representing the Company’s U.K., German, Japanese, French, and Chinese sites, were up 33 percent from third quarter 2008.

Apple

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble store sales for the nine weeks ended October 3, 2009 decreased 3% as compared to the prior year period to $665 million. Barnes & Noble comparable store sales decreased 4.1% for the nine week period. Barnes & Noble.com sales were $91 million, an 8% increase compared to the prior year period.

Sony

Japan’s Sony Corp. announced Friday a quarterly loss of 290 million dollars, hit by weak demand for televisions, cameras and other electronic goods, but it upgraded its outlook for the rest of the year.

The maker of Bravia televisions, PlayStation game consoles and Cyber-shot cameras maintained its forecast for its first back-to-back annual losses since it was listed on the stock market in 1958.
