Bit-Tech: Kindle DX Rejected By Universities

Seems Amazon’s hope of getting the Kindle accepted into academia is being served on toast after listening to the Author’s Guild threats and crippling one of their few accessibility features of the Text-To-Speech function. Seems The Reading Rights Coalition and The National Federation of the Blind might be a little more powerful when it comes to Universities and Libraries than a bunch of Dead Tree Publishing Idiots upset over Text-To-Speech accessibility functions which have been around since the first personal computers showed up.

I think Amazon should turn it back on or even simple ignore that stupid setting all together and let the Publishers and their Authors Guild take the fall legally when the inevitable lawsuits start flying. Make sure you can point to some other dipshit before becoming a target.
