CNET UK: Amazon now has provided a way to read eBooks on your computer!
Wow! Thanks Amazon without you I might not be able to read those eBooks things of which you speak. And as soon as I find out what one of those computers is I just might get an eBook. Oh and let me call Al Gore I want to find out about that Internet thing too.
Sorry, but why is a fucking beta version of the stupid Kindle Application for PC such a revolutionary event? You would think none of these jokers ever read a PDF before. Oh sorry, that is usually how you read the manual and these guys probably phone into a helpdesk for instructions on using their toothbrush.

I don’t think it’s revolutionary, but it’s a very positive thing for two reasons: 1) now people who don’t have Kindles or iPhones/iTouch can take advantage of the Kindle pricing as well as the free Kindle reads. I think those of us who have Kindle/IPHones don’t realize what a big deal that is to some people.
2) I no longer have a Kindle, but I use the Kindle app on my iPhone. Before now, Amazon would not let me dl my books to my computer, so they were all stored on Amazon or in the “cloud”, which as we both know is NOT ideal since Amazon can snatch those away in a hot minute. Now I can dl them to my computer (well I could if there was a Mac program) and store them.
And well, let’s not forget how much easier this will make it for people to strip the DRM and actually own the content :P

That’s true, being on Windows means that the Kindle software is now fresh meat for stripping DRM. Hey, and more people can get those free Samhain ebooks.

There’s already a method for stripping the DRM, but I have to imagine that this will make it that much easier.
And yes, free Samhain books and all the other free reads that are offered on Kindle (there are a lot, my iPhone is filled with them)
