Ally Blue at Fiction With Friction: Big Beautiful Men
Seriously. I mean, there’s a whole category on some publisher pages for BBW (big, beautiful woman) romance books. (Although, the lack of any visible “big” on most of the covers makes me wonder about the content; does “big” mean the heroine actually shops at Lane Bryant like the average woman it claims to portray, or that she wears a size 10? Hmmm…) Anyway, so I’m wondering, since there are romances starring a Big Beautiful Heroine, how come you never see any starring a Big Beautiful Hero? It seems like a sort of double standard to me, and I’m wondering why it exists.
Ally Blue brings up some great subjects on Romance and I love love love her take. There’s a smart author!

You know that guy with the glasses is a well known porn stud. See, real gay men like a little aged meat with real fur on their dudes. Bears are HAWT!

My middle-aged werewolf has swivel-chair spread. Does that count? He’s an architect who would rather watch TV after work than go to the gym.
My guys tend to go tall and a little big, but not chubby. I have one sf guy who is not just a big guy, he’s really ahiry all over, because Cytorians are. They hate sonic showers because back-hair frizz is staticky.

Not that I’ve ever seen any porn or anything.

I’m glad you enjoyed my post, Mr. Pig :D And how cool is it to hear about current and upcoming BBM gay romances? That’s awesome, y’all! I wonder if there’s any of that going around in straight romance? I honestly don’t know. Me, I still read more horror and sci-fi than anything else. Well, if you don’t count reading my own stuff for edits and galleys (omg that gets old).

Ally – I wrote an almost BBM – he was big and muscly but a little run to fluffiness – and I made him literally turn into a bear :)
Guy on the left is very reminiscent of what I was thinking.

AnneD, very cool! I think it’s neat that y’all are writing these things, seriously. There is obviously a market for it.

Oops I was wrong that guy with the glasses is not from ABLQ and several other Bear Magazines!
I swear I saw a spread oh you never know they don’t use their real names.
He’s a Muscle Builder type dude and photographer.

Danke dasbearpork! You just reminded me that it’s been awhile since I checked Amazon to see if Ally’s Fireflies is available in print yet… IT IS!
Oh, btw, dem big boys up dere is NEKKID! I’m shocked… SHOCKED, I say! ;-p
And by nekkid, I mean that, compared to my furry hubby, they REALLY are nekkid cubs, not bears. hee. Seriously, the older he gets, the more hair follicles spring into action.
