1996 was the year of Gay Acid House Music if there ever was such a thing. Scott over at Bill In Exile can tell you all about New York and the Sound Factory days and hell I was probably listening to all the same cuts just in another part of the country. Sweet memories! These wonderful examples are the 1996 singles from Bizarre Inc. unearthed from my rather gigantic crates of CD singles. Since I have the new Mac Mini and gobs of disk space I have been converting my old singles into Digital iPod Heaven.

Huge beats and huge female vocals and huge attitude with lots of sweaty gay men on the dance floor. This to me is the pinnacle of the ground work laid by Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer back in 1975 with Love To Love You Baby. Sure you can find good music these days but most of the stuff worth listening is not as visible and popular as this was and unfortunately like most good music it seems to have gone back to the dance floor and is ignored by the mass market.

Maybe it’s better that way. Damn gorjesus album covers for dance singles.
