On one hand I can look at this picture and love the beauty of the askew composition and the cigar smoke.

On the other hand looking at that chain around his neck makes him a bottom or slave because it states this guy is property and owned by someone else because that collar should belong to someone else. I am still trying to figure out why he has thrown everything on but the kitchen sink “symbol wise” wearing a Top’s cover and a bottom’s collar, arm bands say bottom but one could be Top “If wearing only one and nothing else” (Like say a Top is nude in a “public” dungeon scene he would wear a single armband on occasion to signify position but on the appropriate side), those cuffs say Top to me because they protect the forearm and bottoms do not need to “protect” their forearms. Wearing all of this at the same time can be a mess like speaking fluent Japanese in a Mexico street fair. Even if I caught a single glimpse of this guy across the bar I would think “too much”. Like a guy once tried to pick me up at The Loading Dock in San Francisco wearing a collar. When he approached me publicly to hook up I asked him if he could introduce me to his Top who I thought sent him over and he looked at me strange and told me the jewelry was his. If there is one symbol in all Leather to not “play dress up” with it’s the collar. I walked quickly away realizing how the Leather Bar scene in San Francisco had become fake.

In fact John had most of that shit and I think I got his stuff still in a box around here and one of the first things I learned was what NOT to wear and why. You could easily play “One of these things is not like the others” on this guy’s outfit even with what little he has on. But… That’s just because I am old school like that and I like clear communication of the Top’s experience to base my trust as a bottom on and the first way I was taught this is by looking closely and interpreting what to expect by what I see. To me it’s the difference between observing fashion and function, costume and protocol, real and fake. The bar vest he has on is supposed to only go to the nipples like that and frame your chest and if he were a Motor Cycle or Leather club member he would be wearing his colors on the back center. Someone sized this guy correctly for the vest at least so it is probably his since tailoring is costly. That cover (Probably borrowed) needs a good cleaning though, I would have been talked to for letting John’s get that grungy, and if he added a harness he could play Gladiator for Halloween.
