Delurking to say there is a look inside on the Amazon site of the Birth Control book. The chapter titles all have exclamation marks or question marks, usually of the double or triple variety!! In looking at page one of chapter one I found a new useful form of punctuation, >>. Is it supposed to represent a longer pause than a period? Of course she avoided the whole issues of when to use uppercase letters, by using all uppercase.

Except for “and also” in the title I could not find any lower case letters.

At least her self-published stuff won’t do too much harm. Mass-market books, like Mary Pride’s THE WAY HOME, those ruin the lives of millions of families.

Well I don’t know what “harm” it could do being that it is for sale for $135.00 it’s not like a ton of people are going to buy it.

My thing about showing all this is after an author spends a ton of money “Vanity Publishing” with Harlequin or Thomas Nelson or whatever shell company Author House is using… Sure you get on Amazon right? But… Would you want to have your book sold next to THAT on the Author House listings?

Which is just about what happens if you ever roam the Internet looking at this crap.

Everything gets sorta mishmashed in together and then presented with every other type of cheap junk Author House or their affiliates has spewed forth.

WTF? Okie dokie… Theres some strange critters out there!

I just keep these books in mind whenever people start defending Author House or Publish America as the level of class they are peddling and that makes any debate null and void in my mind.

Oh wait! At least you are not local to them. An author from the area took out commercials for this one:

    http://www.authorhouse.com/Bookstore/ItemDetail.aspx?bookid=62950

    http://www.amazon.com/Wrestling-Tar-Baby-Smoke-Cigarettes/dp/1438987714

Did I mention the book is 80 pages?

The commercial, while not bad as far as local commercials go, still makes me want to spork myself.
