As a society, we must provide them with a secured and loving environment that allows them to flourish.” California State Republican Senator Roy Ashburn – 2005 rally to support “traditional marriage.”

In 2008 Republican Senator Roy Ashburn voted against expanding anti-discrimination laws to include sexual discrimination.
In 2009 Republican Senator Roy Ashburn voted against a resolution to oppose Prop 8, the anti-gay marriage ballot question.
Last September Ashburn opposed creating a Harvey Milk Day, to honor the slain gay rights icon from San Francisco.

On Wednesday March 3, 2010 Republican Senator Roy Ashburn was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in Sacramento with a male passenger. Further investigation by a local CBS station found he had come from the local gay bar Faces. No word yet on exactly what “traditional values” Senator Ashburn, 55, a married father of four was preserving for his kids.
