Which is not really a problem unless it is DRM and you have to login then there is no way out of using Adobe. BUT if you don't want to use Adobe use Stanza Desktop app... search for it in the blog here. I have a linky somewhere. Stanza can open non-DRM ePub no problem. ePub is just another container like PDF but yeah Adobe Reader if you have it installed will open for it.
