From: Apple Insider ~ Flash, HTML5 comparison finds neither has performance advantage
I love silliness like this article. It does not address the real argument over the Smart Phone OS functionality of Flash instead it ignores everything recently discussed to make useless points that mean nothing. Basically what it is saying is IF Adobe Flash is allowed access to the underlying hardware acceleration available in the OS kernel then it will run efficiently on a DESKTOP. Got that? DESKTOP! Not an iPhone or a Smart Phone or an iPad… A DESKTOP. Microsoft let’s us do it so why won’t you Apple? Waaaaaaah!
What the article showed is that Apple does not allow Adobe Flash access to it’s sensitive OS level functions so Adobe Flash runs like crap. ON A DESKTOP! Got that? So Adobe Flash has problems running on everything high powered and workhorse like your typical everyday desktop except on Windows boxes because it can hack the OS to give it all the resources it wants. So with all the other resources at it’s disposal even on a regular old Apple desktop Adobe Flash still fails to run perfectly unless it can have everything. Apple why won’t you give us everything Microsoft does? Waaaah!
But it’s not a resource hog? Really?
So no surprises for me but others might walk away thinking Apple has purposely crippled Adobe by not allowing it Carte Blanche into it’s OS kernel play ground.
Then you can read this article…
From: ZDNet ~ Adobe Reader and targeted malware attacks
From this data we find Adobe is now becoming even more targeted than Windows for Malware attacks. Add that to my last Adobe post Why You Should Dump Adobe Flash Yet Again where I told you about how Adobe ignored a major security hole in their software for 16 months. How long do you bet the Adobe Reader issues have been in play?
NOW you should understand why Apple and any other self respecting OS will in no way shape or form allow Adobe products to interact with their OS at the kernel level. They should not have to. Adobe Flash should be able to run like any other plugin used by a dang browser. We are not talking Photoshop here folks! The point is Apple wants OS level safety and security for their users not force them into playing with a poorly coded, security broken, CPU hog, Adobe Flash by giving away the keys to the kingdom like Microsoft does for it’s customers.
And this is why I only use Apple anymore for home use. I can at least do my eBanking with some peace of mind.
