Duck & Dive

Jason and I generally go out to a local bar around 5 or so after work to get out of the house and then after a couple of drinks head home to get dinner and watch some TV till bed time. Sounds hardcore “party all the time” right?

Anyway, can I be blunt?

If I wanted to go somewhere with kids running around the place I would go to a public park. If I wanted to go to some place with tons of dogs running around I would probably go to a local kennel.

So Jason and I head over to this Duck & Dive bar to have a beer since our usual bar has changed their schedule suddenly. There were at least 8 dogs (not on leashes) with their drunk owners ignoring them while getting smashed as they ran around the floor of this bar like children on a rampage. The dogs, not the owners, although on second thought maybe some of those owners drunkenly hump people’s legs later on too.

Do people consider this a relaxing fun time now? I mean all you straight people out there since I have never been to a gay bar with something like this happening. The occasional one or two dogs brought in by someone stopping by real quick sure but not to stick around while they drank.

So is this the new thing to do… Go to a bar to get drunk and let your dog roam around fighting with other dogs like it’s some city park and disturb the other bar patrons?

We got the hell out of there after one beer. Too much fun for me.

As I said if I wanted to watch a bunch of drunk people’s animals or kids act up I don’t want to go to a bar where I end up paying for that annoyance.

Duck & Dive is a big old “see ya”.

I think the dogs might be a beach town thing. Little kids wandering? We’ve seen that once or twice (usually on Long Island, actually.) When the kids are really tiny and unsupervised, I’ve spent a lot of time being prepared to run and grab them before they smash their little heads on the floor while their parents ignore them. Not relaxing.
