From: Victoria Brownworth ~ Real Authentic Gay Male Porn Writer Extraordinaire

I posed a query to Erastes (which is not allowed; she/he banned me from her/his blog immediately after because one does not question the legitimacy of these writers or one will be smited with a dirty mirkin). I now pose the same to Lee Rowan: Let’s see an actual list of how many books you’ve sold. Eliza claimed to have read 1,553 M/M novels. (I told her that she might have less of a language problem if she were reading something less low-brow, but that was probably mean of me.) So if Eliza bought 1,553 and six of them were your books (don’t worry, this won;t be a difflcult math problem), Rowan, then you made at least $6 off of poor Eliza (another literary reference, but I don’t want to get too far off track here).

Wow, Lambda Literary is running a wonderful professional blog these days. Filled with intelligent well researched commentary.

UPDATE!

I just wanted to point out two things here.

1) How can you accuse another lesbian of “appropriation” and question their authenticity for writing Gay Romance when you yourself write Gay Porn?

2) So Lee Rowan & any other lesbians make enough writing “Gay Romance” for you to call them out on the Lambda Literary Blog but they do not sell enough to be considered your peers or to have their opinions held in equal measure?

Um yeah…

What? No-one’s contacted me. I’ll go and check my spam filter….

No – no-one’s commented on my Blog. What a liar she is. I have not received any comments either on my LJ or my webblog – and I can post the screencaps. NEITHER have I banned her from commenting.

  2. TeddyPig wrote,

She’s attacking labels but checkout the fact she never once mentions the whole Amazon Bio or her background writing Gay Porn.

  3. erastes wrote,

ETA to give her the benefit of the doubt, she probably tried to comment on my LJ – which doesn’t allow anonymous comments. Typical of her that she took the “anonymous comments are not allowed” as the fact that I’d banned her. Paranoid much?

If she pops in here, then the figures are roughly: Standish 6000 copies, Transgressions 3500 copies, Frost Fair 1500 copies.

They don’t post here. Unfortunately losers like that attack nice people like Elisa.

They know I would have them for lunch

Stay klassy, Victoria Brownworth! Jesus. What a snotty bitch.

How sad. Instead of talking about how wonderful the LGBT community is and the authors who do their best promoting it, they attack. What’s the point?

  7. Martha W wrote,

Anyone notice she spelled Elisa’s name wrong? Isn’t that something that totally burned her cookies but she doesn’t have the decency to make sure she follows the same.

And… I think this is the first time I’ve been called a flying monkey.

And she can feel free to Be Debauched on my LJ any time. I do take anonymous comments. But I have little patience for fools, gatekeepers and people who try to tell me what to do.

Christ on a cracker, someone pass that woman a Xanax before she has a breakdown.

She’s plainly feeling tremendously threatened by us low-brows, because her defensiveness and insecurity over her place in the LGBTQ literary landscape stick out a mile. Plus, her subtle literary references ain’t all that subtle, and she appears to have misplaced her sense of humor. I suggest a colonoscopy. Maybe they can retrieve her head while they’re at it, bless her heart.

    ? O_O ?

The majority of us write historical romances? Most of our stories feature rape scenes? We all have distinctly masculine male characters and distinctly feminine male characters? We like “fisting” as a synonym for “masturbation”? We all use the phrase honeyed cleft?

    ? O_O ?

I give up. Okay, bottom line: I like men (not all men, obviously) and, yes, I like dick; I like writing fiction; I like combining the two as best I can.

Reductio ad absurdum: I’m an appropriative loser, baby, so why don’t you kill me? (Apologies to Beck.)

Holy effin’ jamoly. That is some crazy shit.

I’m not going to do this chick’s homework for her. If she can’t find my books with a quick online search, she’s no journalist.

Then again, she’s already demonstrated that, hasn’t she? Speaking of which, that famous Amazon bio says she teaches at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Funny, that the faculty roster seems to have forgotten to list her in its ranks.

The massive falsification of “facts” about me and Erastes, her condescending attitude toward Elisa, who has done yeoman service to gay male writers, filmmakers, and actors as well as writers of all genders and persuasion.

I wonder at the obsession with my income. It’s smaller than one might think–I’ve spent the last year getting my backlist back into print after moving from Samhain to Cheyenne… But, as I said on the Lambda rant-blog and will say again here, even if I had no books in print, I would have the right to take exception to a rant that consists mainly of lies concocted for the apparent purpose of carpet-bombing any other female writer who writes gay-m/m romance.

There’s nothing new under the sun. A couple of years ago another authoritarian lesbian got a wild hair up her ass and came after me because she thought I ought to be writing f/f… all the while complaining that her f/f wasn’t selling as well as m/m in general. Now I think she’s writing it.

I’d challenge VB to reveal her nom-de-gay porn, but there’s no point in engaging in discussion with someone who makes up “facts” as she goes along. One might as well try to have a sane converation with Rush Limbaugh.

More from VB in a comment that seemed according to my email notifications to have been posted 4 times but was still not on the blog–so I helpfully posted it myself: http://erecsite.blogspot.com/2010/08/victoria-brownworth.html
