I hope everyone got an Apple iPad this Christmas.
I have to say that the iPad is the most remarkable device of 2010. Even the poor eInk readers had to admit it is hands down the most versatile, the most adaptable, and the most accessible eBook reading device ever made. You got your Nook app or your Kindle app or your Kobos or Stanza or iBooks or whatever app strikes your fancy. In the end it’s all about the options and eInk just has one.
I got my PDFs, my music, my magazines, my news, my videos, my internet, my bank account, and my email… the list keeps growing every month. No single function device will ever do any of that as smoothly or as easily as the Apple iPad.
So yeah, even though it took me a while to get it to the point where I got all my eBooks organized on it with native PDF format and an iTunes archive with full backup and I could read comfortably using that non-glare plastic deally I am glad I got one.

I’m glad you’re happy with your iPad, TeddyPig. I went by your recommendations of, “If you really want to get a dedicated e-reader, here’s what you should get.” I love my Sony. It works very well for what I wanted it to do. There are still a few things I need to figure out with it, but I have time.

My partner has a whole boat load of vouchers and is going to get one in Jan I think. He’s pretty excited. :) I got a sony, the smaller ereader and I really like it. I’ve still got my phone with stanza, but it allows me to read without mucking around on the net. I have the attention span of a gnat.
Awesome top 5 list. I have all 5 of those and whole heartedly agree. They’re wonderful reads :)

Got my iPad (wifi only) for Christmas. Thanks for telling me how to get my books on it and my iTouch. You saved me time and frustration. If I open the book on my iTouch when I have an Internet connection(before I leave home) the iTouch will go to the last page I was reading on my iPad. The only thing I miss is not having a brief book summary.

Welcome to the marvelous world of iPad Terri!
Have you downloaded all the different ebook apps and started looking for the best prices yet? That is one of the great parts is the ability to check prices with each app like between Nook and Kindle etc etc.

I have a few kindle books and have not looked at the nook app. I do like not being stuck with only one company or format for my books. That’s why i chose an iPad instead of a kindle. Plus I can play games, surf the web, and read my email when i’m tired of reading.
