Apple iPad

So I know all of you out there think I will never tell you anything BAD happening with my use of the Apple iPad…

HAH! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I DID experience an EXTREMELY ANNOYING problem recently and I think I need to confess this problem to all of you new iPad users out there before you find yourself in the same predicament.

Here is what Apple will never tell you…

Certain Apps you can download directly to your iPad via the Apps download tool will fuck up your iPad’s ability to backup during a sync with your home computer’s installed iTunes for some esoteric unknown reason.

THIS IS BAD FOLKS!

So if you are experiencing this problem now or suddenly notice it happening. Which is not hard to do because I am very sure most of you are not patiently watching the little boxes that pop up all the time to tell you how the backup and sync is going on iTunes.

Anyway, if your home computer’s iTunes starts complaining about not being able to “complete a backup” of your iPad then stop everything. You have obviously downloaded one of those nasty Apps and now you will have to pay the price for it.

Backup any data on the iPad MANUALLY you need and then you are going to have to do the unthinkable…

HIT THE RESTORE BUTTON

*sigh*

Yeah, I know, it sucks to have to re-initialize the iPad and reload all those Apps through your home computer’s iTunes and all that other stuff you have to do when starting from scratch and hopefully you caught this early enough to have a real recent backup. Believe me, not having a current backup of your iPad is much worse than you think.

If you want to be really vicious any App that is not in your last recent backup is an App that probably caused your issue and I would rat those suckers out to Apple in a heartbeat.

After you do all that work reinstalling everything from your home computer’s iTunes the whole problem will vanish in a puff of Apple smoke. The only proactive measures I could find about this issue were not very helpful really because I still want to download Apps directly to my iPad sometimes.

Just keep in mind to try not to download direct very often for those more complex Apps like the ones that file share with your local computer because I personally think those might be the ones creating the issue.

This is also the reason I switched all my non-DRM PDF eBooks to iTunes and iBooks since it automatically makes sure to re-download those eBooks along with all my music and videos if anything does happen. One less Apple tragic “loss of data” when it comes to eBooks is always a good thing.
