This is what we believe. Technology alone is not enough. Faster, thinner, lighter… those are all good things. But when technology gets out of the way, everything becomes more delightful… even magical. That’s when you leap forward. That’s when you end up with something like this…

Apple iPad 2

The best eBook reader on the planet! Well, all I know is I cannot leave the house without my iPad. Have you seen all those Android tablet commercials lately? Notice they do not show many app functions. That’s because Android 3.0 has like some 20 apps to run on it at present and Apple has what? Something like 65,000 iPad apps or something like that. Frag is a drag!

It’s better to hide behind silly spec sheet check marks like more RAM or thinner plastic frames or something ridiculous like that when you are asking BIG $$$ with absolutely no functionality to show for all that effort you made to shove an 8 megapixel camera up a generic Android tablet’s ass at the last minute.

I can’t wait till they start dumping the “me too” Android tablet prices in the Google gutter of a fire sale bin around January when no one buys those expensive dogs for Christmas and then I might just pick up one of those “me too” Android gadgets really really cheap and sleazy.

That will be something to look forward to… Well that and watching Amazon trying to pull a Nook Kindle Color out of their ass while the Kindle Koolaid club sits around justifying why you should buy an underpowered hacked together Android tablet from an online retail merchant with no real experience in making consumer electronics besides some cheap ass eBook Reader that is. Look out Apple! Oh, and notice how eInk screens versus LCD touch screens have sorta become a non-issue since the iPad 2 and Android came into the discussion?
Funny how that works.

I followed some of the discussion, but I didn’t get it all. Are you saying a Kindle is “an underpowered hacked together Android tablet”? Sometime, could you please give an explanation aimed at the technologically impaired (me) of how these machines are supposed to function — or how they don’t do what they’re supposed to? We get a lot of “the iPad is the best” and “these other things suck,” but I don’t know enough about the other things to understand why they get the condemnation.

The current rumors concerning the color Kindle basically make it sound like another Nook Color which would not be surprising at all. The problem with the Nook Color is you are paying close to iPad prices for a tablet built on underpowered and cheap parts just because it can run Android.

If they priced it under one hundred dollars I would be fine with the Nook Color but my honest opinion is buy any of the HTC 4.3 inch screen Android Phones under contract from any of the big four cell phone companies for close to 100-200 dollars usually and you will get the best Android Tablet bang for the buck. If you really need to go Android for some reason stick with the tried and true cell phones they are big enough now.

Otherwise an iPad still is the only current solution where you are getting what you pay for both hardware and functionality wise.
