The most accessible album Aimee Mann ever made. In fact the original demos prove this group if it had been left alone was a monster in the making. Much like The Cars these guys needed no help really and what they got was a bum deal from a bad record label more interested in Mann’s antics on camera than the music. Anyway, history shows they got over produced and under sold and are only known for that video on MTV where ego monster Mann flings her rat tail around and emotes. Snort that success girlfriend! You will be lonely as a solo artist. Gwen Stefani you are so next bitch!
Just remember Gwen did not just sell out her successful band to shake her ass solo but her own brother who happened to be in her successful band. There are some things that are bad to do Karma wise like in Aimee’s case and then there are some things that make those seasonal family get togethers damn awkward.
Still this was in my opinion a surprisingly flawless debut album and holds up to multiple listenings and really is worth keeping around for that peak eighties rock sound it contributes to any collection.
