The Daily Show – Minneapolis Is the New Gay

It’s funny how this joke makes some interesting statements about where the Gay Community is going.
You remember I told you about the S.F. Eagle closing and I also told you about A Different Light closing in The Castro.
The facts are the “Gay Community” in San Francisco cannot afford to live there anymore. There is nothing surprising about that it’s simple economics. The queens upgraded their neighborhoods into investment property for wealthy yuppy scumbags so they got bought out in the end to make way for another Walmart.
So what do we see In Minneapolis on this John Stewart segment? Gay wealthy yuppy twinks who shop at Target! You know the company that funds anti-gay groups and those closeted twinks probably secretly vote Republican while they are being represented as the “New Gay Community”. I would rather die or at least move to Canada before the yuppy twink gay scum apocalypse begins!
Well not really… See this is nothing new this is just the old Gay “Upper Class” actually. Remember in the movie Milk where Harvey Milk goes to the rich gay guy who owns The Advocate at the time for financial support for his political run for office and gets none because he was “too radical”? Does that ring a bell? You think maybe those same folks might not own television now?
Now look at all this “old” versus “new” garbage again in that “not GAY, but CLASS based” warfare frame of reference.
The fact is “the closet” and it’s ever present self hate is simply being repackaged as socially acceptable form of lower class homosexuality because then you are easily manipulated by the heterosexual media to buy their way of thinking and keep the upper class fat and happy and voting Republican tax cuts for themselves. It’s just repackaging an old chestnut to fit in with the cutting edge teabaggers like Chaz Bono whose whole goal in life seems to be about becoming a fat, middle aged, white guy because those are the ONLY political voices who really matter in this Fox News infected world of ours.
Did you see any non-white gay people in that segment? Yeah, they can’t afford to live in San Francisco either.
There is nothing courageous about wanting to imitate, look just like, or “conform to” those who oppress us. Gay people have been getting married and having children and voting Republican while living in the closet and finding ways “to pass” as normal since time began. They do love to occasionally rebrand this sad crap as “hip” and “new” though.
Now Gay people should get married to each other and live in the closet and have kids and find ways to become invisible to straight folks so we should not “do drag” or “get uppity” while showing any type of sexuality at all because you know “you need to pass” and not offend the straight folks with your unnatural looks or disgusting pride and radical politics.
There is nothing “new” about self hate because when you see it you know what you are looking at so catch a clue!
