From: The Washington Post ~ ‘Paula Brooks,’ editor of ‘Lez Get Real,’ also a man
“Paula Brooks,” editor of Lez Get Real since its founding in 2008, is actually Bill Graber, 58, a retired Ohio military man and construction worker who said he had adopted his wife’s identity online.
Oh come on now! So these were two “straight” dudes that were flirting with each other online playing thespians… I mean lesbians, and they supposedly had no clue. How gay!
Yes, I said it… sue me.
This is exactly why when I see someone online playing the “MORE SERIOUS radical PC than YOU” role or claiming to be this or that label but acting totally unlike any type of person I have ever met in public. I just tend to ignore or even laugh at them. I figure that by our nature people tend to want to act out if given the chance and the internet provides that very chance in spades. Much like the whole Android Tablet hoopla everything online is just theory or hype. It may look great on paper but you have to prove this stuff by using it and living it or it’s just hot air and empty promises.
This is very much like the whole Lambda insisting it’s awarded writers be “real” lesbian or gay writers only or book reviewers making such a big fuss over the “authenticity” of the writer without actually ever having met the person and hey, even if you meet the person that does not mean you still won’t end up getting taken advantage of like Oprah.
You might as well stick to judging the work, the product, not the person doing the work because people are strange when you’re a stranger.

Of course they flirted with each other. They had so much in common.

That’s a wild story, but I’m not all that surprised. People can take whatever identity they want on the Internet, and you have no idea if pictures of “them” are really them.
