Ico & Shadow Of The Colossus

Ico & Shadow Of The Colossus

In the middle of summer heat and I am already getting my Christmas wish list started. Although I am not waiting for Christmas. If you have a PS3 you will need to purchase this disk when it comes out in September.

I know these are old games relatively speaking but they are probably the biggest most fabulous landmarks for videogames in general ever made. Both these games are mature and gorgeous examples of an art form. So we shall not in any sense throw either of these legends in the same pile as your typical boring multiplayer shooter or combat arena games.

In Ico you are a little boy rescuing a young girl from this evil tower of shadows. In Shadow Of The Colossus you are a young man roaming around a picturesque country side killing gigantic monsters to complete a dark promise.

Both stories are a cool mix of fairytales and epic fantasy that will not only entertain you and show you much eye candy but they might also just whisk you away to a faraway land for a few hours. Must haves of the first order.

No real “recoding” was done. They simply have replaced the display engine to allow the game to present the original untouched art work in high definition on your HD TV. So the word remastered is probably a misnomer but the idea is to keep the game play exactly like the original but allow the PS3 to crank up the picture a bit. Even better, this same team is whipping up a little something new to play on the PS3 later next year.
