I know this is not really about the act of reading but it’s one of those dependencies you cannot get away from.
Lighting, so hang with me on this and let’s have some reading light fun…
At 30 bucks a pop LED lighting is not cheap. Not in any way, shape, or freaking form, could a lightbulb costing 30 smackers ever be called cheap.
But… GE says I could get 22.8 years out of this sucker. Hmmmmm, really?
Well, you know those can lights in the kitchen? The little narrow cans you have to pull down from the ceiling and take apart and… I HATE changing those fucking screwy lightbulbs with the dust falling in my face and the YUCK… Yeah, those cans!
If I could count on 22.8 fucking years of never having to do that shit ever ever ever again. 30 bucks is pretty god damned cheap if you ask me.
For the blog though I will take this opportunity and test this GE Warm White LED bulb out against the new contender from Philips their Ambient LED. Let’s see which one does the best at looking like regular everyday Costco cheapo bulbs.
Admittedly the GE Warm White right now is winning I just bought one and the light is a tad more intense “whiter and brighter wise” but not that far away “glow wise” from the halogen bulb in the other can right next to it. Unlike the halogen it is only using 4.5 watts. It’s not at all like that LED I bought a while back that glowed like it was irradiated or something. It just never looked right I tell you. The coldest light you ever did see.
If Philips can make GE look bad then we are so on. So if you are thinking about going LED I suggest going with the brand names here and I suggest only investing in the lights you hate to change out.
Makes it all seem like justice is served or something when you have to pay for these fucking expensive little things that “supposedly” last for years and years. If they do… that is one less unplanned for surprise, usually at the worst possible moment, to NOT have to worry about ever again.
Anyway, more to come on this children. More to come!
