From: Digitimes August 2010 ~ Acer chairman expects iPad market share to drop to 20%, says paper
In a Chinese-language interview with the Economic Daily News (EDN), JT Wang, chairman of Acer, said that he expects Apple’s iPad market share to drop from close to 100% currently to only 20%-30% after the tablet PC market stabilizes.
From: Digitimes December 2011 ~ Acer chairman optimistic about Wintel
Acer chairman JT Wang pointed out that Apple, Google and Wintel will be the three major platforms to drive the growth of the PC industry; however, he expects Apple platform growth will start weakening in the next two years and the major driver will be replaced by rapid growth of Wintel.
You want to know why the PC market is in trouble? Just take a look at this guy J.T. Wang. Everything out of his mouth is about how Apple is going to fail while his Chinese company Acer is fading into the discount bin. He obsesses over Apple’s supposed coming demise and Digitimes writes down every word like he is a prophet from on high.
Acer does not innovate. They spend no real money on research to engineer or design anything new or different. They are not leading in any type of “brilliant new direction”. They are a chip off the old Microsoft warhorse they copy as cheaply as possible then wrangle over how much they copied the real innovators in court and follow the herd blindly. Corporate vultures with nothing to contribute and no further benefit to provide than cheap knockoffs.
And their leadership… well see for yourself…
Can anyone be more wrong in their predictions and “expert” opinions, besides Steve Ballmer that is?
If they listen to that fool then why not me?
I predict the only thing Microsoft might make a large profit in is Microsoft Office corporate licensing fees since Windows is about to face the coming “ultra cheap corporate secured cloud based Android laptops” (Remember the old low powered Citrix corporate client box concepts way back when where you never had to install or run anything Windows locally but could access this virtual desktop with all your Microsoft junk up in some shared licensed server farm? It’s now called a cloud. Guess what can be secured from the states when they ship all our Corporate IT admin jobs overseas but they want to keep all the valuable data here! Hey, you keep voting anti-regulation Republican this is exactly what you idiots get… unemployment lines or a job serving fries.) which will further undermine Microsoft’s domination in the OS world which will leave them with a rapidly aging user base and any servers not already using FREE virtualized Linux that runs better and faster than anything they ever coded.
They will maintain some profits from the XBOX 360 but I expect the whole heavy investment in Kinect type controllers to backfire on them in the coming year just like all that 3D crap failed miserably for the TV makers despite us consumers telling them NO GLASSES, NO HEADACHES, NO 3D, just a decent picture and size for the price please over and over again.
The truth is in the end video game players no matter how dumb they might be do not want to flail their arms around till they get numb controlling their game machines anymore than consumers want to buy a Windows 8/Metro phone just to check their XBOX Live video game scores in the unemployment line and all that should eat into their XBOX 360 profits nicely.
Cheap gimmicks and flash just aint cutting it you either supply a whole new direction with your platform and top quality equipment and good security to back it up (Apple) or go the low road and farm out all your equipment but provide real value at the OS level and lots of free functionality thrown in to piss your app developers off (Google) because the penny is being pinched.
In other words Microsoft, welcome to the Global Depression.
