Clash ~ Lost In The Supermarket

I finished this game last night. Can I have a cookie?

No I honestly mean that there was little to no reason I could find to keep playing. It just got so boring I decided to rush the ending as fast as I could. Hey, I finished it! What more do you want?

The best thing about this game was the Boggarts. It was like being attacked by killer coconuts at a fancy costume party. I loved when they went to attack you and did their little “and a one and a two and a three” dance. In fact the only moment in the entire game I felt bad about killing anything trying to kill me was these guys.

That kind of got me thinking about my review and what I felt in the end about this game since I can leave now. I am not changing the grade or anything like that just defining where it went so horribly wrong for me when it was obviously trying so very hard to out Fable good old Fable which is not a bad idea by itself.

I think the first thing was it had a truly lacking storyline direction so the main story was weak and the tossed in random subplots just sat there doing nothing. Just cliche upon cliche upon cliche. R.A. Salvatore should be ashamed of what he contributed which was not much.

The second would be an issue it shares with Fable 3… it was a light hearted child’s fairytale come to life that tried to be too serious. If it had maintained a light touch and maybe added something of sentimental value like the dog in Fable 2 and riffed off the silly Boggarts a little more (Kept adding more humorous touches. Killer humorous touches mind you… but just more humor. Think Shrek. Think Shrek in an edgy Fable kinda way.) it might have been a good game.

I can only hope someone on the PC gaming side mods this thing because there is a lot to supersize for fun in here and a sandbox this big and fabulous gives the right creative folks a ton of options to play with. In closing if you ever wanted to play Fable on your PS3… well, that is the only reason I can come up with to bother wandering the aisles of Alamart.

Jason keeps talking about Mass Effect 3 and watching things about it on Youtube so that might be next even if I hate the DLC pirates at EA.

Sadly, I don’t think it can be modded easily on the PC because of the way the code is written. :(

Oh, and re ME3… I am conflicted. I was bored by the lather/rinse/repeat of the ME2 quests, so not sure about ME3. I’ll wait and see for a few months. It isn’t on my Must Buy list, though.

Oh and Borderlands 2 should be around soon.

I hate shooters as a rule but I love me some Borderlands.
