From: Tech Crunch ~ Bloomberg: iPad 3 To Have Quad-Core CPU, LTE, High-Def Screen

It’ll have a Quad-Core CPU (as opposed to the Dual-Core A5 found in iPad 2)

It’ll have a “High-Def” screen

Support for LTE (4G)

I don’t know about the 4G thing. Maybe… I guess, 4G is another one of those battery hogging features much like that Mobile Flash was that Apple refused to support for obvious reasons till Adobe stopped work on it like they always do when they cannot come up with the goods because their legacy coded shit sucks just that bad. Whenever I see people make a big deal about Flash or 4G or any of the various useless functions usually Android related because frankly they do not have much else to talk about I think loser.

Apple may go with 4G just because the networks they are on run it and sure, the downloads are much faster which is never a bad thing.

It just is what it is but I won’t miss it if 4G skips this version unless they were to make it less battery intensive. I am not all that worried because I am buying a Wi-Fi only version anyway. It’s nicer to have one of those 4G MiFI Mobile HotSpots instead of wasting money having a single cell phone carrier’s chipset built into your trusty iPad. You might just want to switch carriers quickly if they start shafting you on the data plans and then what… Buy a new iPad? Nah that is just silly.

I already said that gaming was going to always be the big mover and the game makers are making big bucks with iOS and the Apple App Store so faster processing with a hardcore chip is a sure bet and my money is all on a High-Def screen which I want so bad.

All the gaming oriented stuff should always be front and center on any electronics worth buying these days especially when gamers generally lay out good money for a single game and it will only benefit people who are also smart and follow that herd and buy the iPad for their eBook reading.

You cannot go wrong buying the most practical and also best built tablet of the entire field and the best priced for the tech you get. At this stage at least you know Apple is not using you for an expensive beta tester of their new product unlike all the other companies are.

Nook Tablet

Rather suddenly and unannounced…

Barnes & Noble disabled side loading app functions in the Nook Tablet. Which I am sure would piss a lot of people off if they bought the Nook Tablet instead of the Kindle Fire because it was “open” and you could if you wanted to load apps not provided by the B&N app store.

This is why I keep saying stop buying electronic garbage from these cheapskate eBook sellers. No good will come of it and they really do not even understand why people were buying their product and not Amazon’s they are just that clueless about their own customer base.

This should hurt their sales due to this sudden change in functionality but they will still be clueless as to the reasons why so do not expect any miracles.

So Merry Christmas folks! Hope you did not stick one of these Nook Tablets under the tree for someone thinking they could use this functionality to make for a cheap Android Tablet because it is long gone with those automatic “over the air” OS updates. The Nook Tablet is now nothing more than yet another brain dead eBook Reader just like the Kindle Fire.

Barnes & Noble is obviously practicing for the part of The Grinch this year. I wonder if they will even be around for next year at this rate. Oh, who cares! The eBook format’s success does not depend on stinking mall bookstores with jacked up hardcover prices and failing business models like this.

From: From CNN ~ How many Kindle Fires are being returned to Amazon?

Using 90% of the 13.3% one-star reviews as rough measure, this suggests that nearly half a million of the estimated 3.9 million Kindles to be shipped this quarter will be returned.

How do the iPad reviews compare? Amazon doesn’t promote the iPad like it does the Kindle, and it only sells it through third party vendors. But of the 475 iPad 2 reviews posted on Amazon.com, more than 60% gave it five stars and only 7.2% gave it one star.

The thing is without Amazon providing real sales numbers like Apple does for all it’s products. This CNN article is just as accurate, if not more so, than any Amazon press release or fanboy reviews you run into constantly.

This just points out how much flim flam goes on with these online press releases. RIM the Blackberry Playbook makers are now trying to spin their dumping millions of dollars in Playbook inventory at a complete and utter financial loss in a fire sale of disgrace as some sort of mad success in market share too just like hucksters like Amazon and other online reporters are trying now to suggest that Amazon’s FAKE Android tablet should be considered as being a fully qualified Google supported Android device.

The facts remain the new Amazon Kindle Fire is running on a hacked up old version of Android that was never made for use with tablets and will never be supported by anyone but Amazon. It’s double plus good speak and corporate lies. Just like Blackberry says the next version of their WebOS 2.0 will be a REAL iPad killer because it will include an email client.

Yeah, an email client promoted as an innovation… Is this the 90s? Well, in my opinion companies creating business oriented tablets meant to be used mainly by corporations that forget one of the basic requirements corporations run on is email probably should cut the talk of becoming a major threat to Apple or any of Apple’s well thought out products.

As far as Amazon goes if you buy electronics from a bottom dollar book seller… that’s your money, not mine, at least I don’t have to listen to the “eInk screens are so much better for your eyes anecdotes” anymore now that everyone is buying cheap wannabe iPads and fanboying all over them like they did the cheap eInk junk. But it’s the “ultimate” Kindle, it is in color! Yeah, the iPad was in color over a year ago and my iPad version 1.0 is better at almost everything including running a damn Kindle App than your new Kindle Fire.

Just another garbage bin worthy plastic fad gadget that will be replaced by one of those big bright shiny car air fresheners shaped like a crown or maybe a new odorless diaper pail in a few months, who the hell cares?

From: Jakob Nielson ~ Kindle Fire Usability Findings

The summary is…

7-inch tablets have either a glorious future or will fail miserably. I doubt there’s a middle path in their future.

For 7-inch tablets to succeed, service and content providers must design specifically for these devices. Repurposed designs from print, mobile phones, 10-inch tablets, or desktop PCs will fail, because they offer a terrible user experience. A 7-inch tablet is a sufficiently different form factor that it must be treated as a new platform. Furthermore, these mid-sized tablets are so weak that suboptimal designs — that is, repurposed content — won’t work. Optimize for 7-inch or die.

Can you say sink, sank, sunk?

Oh and to rub a bit more salt here is what Steve Jobs said about a 7 inch Apple iPad…

“Apple’s done extensive user-testing on touch interfaces over many years, and we really understand this stuff,” Jobs said in a quarterly earnings call. “There are clear limits of how close you can physically place elements on a touch screen before users cannot reliably tap, flick or pinch them. This is one of the key reasons we think the 10-inch screen size is the minimum size required to create great tablet apps.”

In other words we told you so.

From: Phone Arena ~ Samsung Galaxy Nexus Review

Listen, I am going to repeat myself yet again here…

BEFORE I would waste a single penny on a Kindle Fire or a brain dead Kobo touchie feelie tab or whatever cheapo wannabe Android Tablet you might want to talk about buying for two or three hundred dollars…

I would go down to my local Verizon headquarters with the best 4G system that already services my cell phone and get one of these Google/Samsung Galaxy Nexus phones on one of those nice deals where I would be blowing that two or three hundred dollars on some thing practical and useful and with a Super AMOLED HD screen, Dual-Core 1.2GHz processor, HSDPA, 5MP camera and a fucking 4.65 inches HIGH resolution of 720 x 1280, giving a ppi of 316!!!!

Unlike Amazon or B&N everything about this baby is fully and totally supported by big daddy Google. Those other ripoffs cannot say a single word about that because Google would have them on toast.

Amazon is not giving you that kind of techy cutting edge hardware for no two hundred god damned dollars and here Samsung/Verizon, for what looks like is going to be just 99 bucks more than the Kindle Fire for signing, wants to pack your little holiday shopping cart up with the latest greatest tech available on the planet.

4.65 inches of high definition color and hell that size screen is only an inch or so off from that midget Sony eInk reader and for about the same god damned price Sony STILL wants for that bad business decision. What do they call it now… A Wi-Fi-cking Bother?

I swear, they do fleece the suckers so easily with the whole “distracting you from comparing their cheaply made broken junk with multi-functioning dependable cell phone based devices that actually work” when it comes to this shit.

If you want a tablet buy an Apple iPad period end of discussion. Anyone telling you the iPad is not the best tablet available on the market at any price range is flat out lying to your face. If you can’t “afford” one then don’t buy a tablet go buy a BIG screen Android smart phone where the cell phone company is subsidizing most of the cost but don’t act like buying cheaply made hacked up junk only teenage script-kiddy hackers can make fully functional or Google cannot support directly with OS updates is practical, thrifty, or smart.

Only complete idiots would recommend you do something like that.

Oh, and my big ass bank I work for is gearing their ENTIRE mobile support platform on Apple and Blackberry because Android and Windows phone makers have no cohesive “SECURITY hardware features” offered across the board unlike the fruit salad twins Apple or Blackberry who build hardware based SECURITY into every single phone they make. You know that silly Find My iPhone app? Yeah, guess what that is… remote tracking and remote shutdown and wipe the private data out. Once your phone gets stolen you want it to forget everything you have told it and play dead on command at the hardware level.

Corporate Security gold standard there! Apple keeps your data safe and secure.

That should tell you where Apple is going to kill Microsoft and Google next (Security Dependent Corporate Platforms) and the big guys have only themselves and their lame ass “using cheapskate third party hardware makers to sell their flash infested battery killing OS” to blame. Maybe Microsoft should just buy Blackberry outright and integrate RIM directly into the Exchange Server platform and get some secure mobile technology on top of all that.

Whoops! Looks like Blackberry just got caught selling their noted security features out in the Carrier IQ spyware shit storm now happening.

Why do people buy this crap? WHY?
You are buying a underpowered tablet that has a hacked up cobbled together version of Google Android that “out of the box” denies you the ability to download from the Google App Store… Yeah, I am going there. These tablets by not having access to the Google App Store or using a vanilla install of Android as such are not supported officially by Google at all ever… because they are pieces of CRAP!

Do I need to be more blunt?

The only reason anyone is talking about this pile of trash harkening back to the old consumer debt based “Company Store” is they are being sold for $200 and no one mentions they all require severe hacking by some teenager living in his mom’s basement to get them even close to being “real” Android Tablets if that is what you wanted in the first place.

Listen, I convinced my boss to buy an iPad2 and you know what he told me yesterday? He cannot live without it. I convinced my dad to buy an iPad2 and you know what he did last week? He bought an iPhone 4s because that is how much he loves his iPad2. I do not get the feeling that any of these cheap hacked up fake Android Tablets are going to do it for people like the full on iPad experience.

If you want a tablet, buy a fucking tablet. The best is the Apple end of story there is not a single piece of proof out there to say otherwise. If you want to save money I already told you the secret is to buy the wi-fi only edition of the iPad2 because you can get better deals on cellphone data plans and better connection speeds to boot using one of those new stand alone 4G wi-fi boxes.

If for some irrational reason you still want to waste money on a half baked Android Tablet buy one that is at least fucking supported by Google the maker of the OS because it is not like either of these book sellers has any history or exemplary track record supporting their junk equipment in the long run.

Here! An Asus eee Pad Transformer for $400! Asus is a known powerhouse of a computer company and this doohicky will likely go on sale this holiday season maybe a bit closer to $300 and you can buy it from Best Buy with one of their awesome extended warranty plans. It has a complete install of Honeycomb and it works with the Google App Store “out of the box” like it was built to from the get go and it is cheap “in tablet terms” and it is “the real thing” without some online slumlord channeling ONLY THEIR CRAP for you to buy everytime you use it. It’s a no brainer, cheap Asus versus crappy Kindle, go Asus!

Quit with the penny wise, dollar foolish shit OK? Buying dumbed down products for consumer zombies willing to sell their souls to some online merchant is stupid. Practical is not pinching pennies on throw away junk. It’s getting the most for your money from a decently built setup with an OS that you know is supported by a major company with a computing background like say Google.

Hackintoshes are an example of being practical and saving money by using known exploits in an OS which ends up working exactly the same as any iMac or MacPro by slapping together just the right “off the shelf” brand name computer parts.

A Kindle Fire on the other hand is an example of fooling yourself into believing some fly-by-night cheapo sleazy hype by a glorified bottom of the barrel “dollar bin” book seller trying to pawn off “fake” Android look-alikes as if they were “real”. Amazon, a modern day snake oil salesman if there ever was one. Jeff Bezos always struck me as the anti-Steve Jobs.
