I called you all here today for the gifting of my Mac Mini to Jason’s mom.

Zippy was a dependable Mac Mini he worked long and hard on this blog making sure all the Photoshopping and Cover arts and the various rant and raves were well taken care of. With my new Hackintosh… well, basically it makes Zippy feel sorta not so zippy.

It is Christmas time and Jason’s mom needs a new computer to read her emails on so I feel it is the right occasion to move on but Zippy was a good Mac Mini some would say even say Zippy was a great Mac Mini.

Take care Zippy and good luck on your new position.

I noticed my Livejournal account stopped updating around June or so with my Livejournal crossposter plugin.

So I went and tried to fix it today. Livejournal is such a big priority in my world and all that.

Then everything got double posted by the crossposter I guess getting excited or something.

So I went into Livejournal to try and manually fix all the doubled posts and they wanted money for me to be able to batch edit all these stupid entries.

Money to perform a simple everyday task?

Must be some good drugs they are taking.

Instead I deleted my old Livejournal account since the only reason I kept it around was it was free and easy to use and frankly all that updating of the exact same stupid functionality to do the exact same stupid thing you always did with Livejournal but now they want money for it was just another annoying headache and yet another example of a web programmer that needed to find a real job at Facebook or Twitter. You know, a social website that makes money not just another stupid backwater spam magnet.

That takes care of that Livejournal problem once and for all I think.

Whoopee no more untranslated Russian comment spam for me!

First thing this morning I deleted my Goodreads account. It was time after the whole AJ witch hunt.

I think the website acts like it is a social website for “the readers” and their “honest reviews” but it is really a huge promotional induced fanboi factory for the authors too cheap to get their own websites and their various little crazy ass fanboi fueled vendettas and their carefully collected 5 star reviews “me love you long time”.

Much like Amazon there is no “real monitoring” of any of this behavior or ways given to the poor user to personally block or filter out the nut jobs, sock puppets, and assorted dime store idiots there so you are stuck with the default setting of “anything goes”. If I could have blocked the insane authors, the roving editors, and the “professional reviewers” first thing when I joined as “a reader” I would have done so gladly because those are always the troublemakers and shit stirrers in my experience.

The vote for this or that email spam and site notifications were getting to me and the constant invitations to this group or that group and then the whispers I was hearing of super secret groups for super secret fucktards and well frankly I would rather refocus any efforts I make online here where I am in control and can say what the fuck I want and spoil shit left and right if and when I choose to analyze a book for a review in detail than on that black hole of bitter zombie ex-Livejournal losers.

I think I am getting old or maybe getting bored with the constant lowest common denominator anti-social nature of the internet beast. If I really wanted a hobby of counting my followers I would start my own religion and the first place I would recruit at would be Goodreads because they come pre-brainwashed, fluffed and folded.

I did get a lifetime membership to Library Thing though because that little widget at the top of my website has been the best free doohickey I ever got on the internet. Library Thing never emails me shit nor shinola and I have been a member there for free for years now and honestly any author updates or information I can find there on the author owned pages as long as they keep them updated without them getting all pushy on my ass.

Fuck Goodreads! Gonna wash that stupid shit right out of my hair and send it on it’s way.

When I first started hanging out with the Centaur MC even before I was invited to become a member of the club I remember one of the first guys that turned my head was Jim Wright.
Saying Jim was a big man is something of an understatement of fact. Getting hugged by him was an experience of being hugged by a giant hairy earthquake. Jim Wright was a big man with a commanding baritone voice that shook the room and made people pay attention and along with his giant presence I know personally he had a heart of gold to go with that voice.

Whenever I think of Jim I think of a man I secretly always wished I could be. Bad Boy good looks as all get out with a hearty laugh and a full beer and a very sexy boy friend by his side. The Jim I knew, the young Leatherman who lives on in my memory, was all those things I guess you tend to look up to in a big brother. When I say Larger Than Life for good or bad that describes all aspects of Jim Wright.

Jim was one of the members in our club that took MAL from a small local event the club put on every year to one of national note. I could never imagine such an unstoppable force being waylaid by such trivial things that the rest of us have to deal with. No matter where life took Jim Wright, men like him, I always imagined did not have to play by the same rules or at least I kinda hoped not.

Unfortunately at 5:00 yesterday afternoon my club brother James D. Wright died.
The world has become slightly less for it.

Yes, if you have an iPad/iPhone you can join me in looking at this website using this new plugin.

Basically I have turned The Naughty Bits into a webapp.

So far I hate the fact it is limiting me to nine categories. But I might be able to live with that.
So far I hate the fact the comments do not show up. That is not good blogs are interactive damn it.
So far I hate the fact I would have to rearrange this whole fucking site to do this!

Anyway, if you are interested in what might become the wave of future for iPad/iPhone websites check it out. I will try and make it work and if not I will dump it soon.

Your comments are more than welcome. Fire Away!

I could give you a history

When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one. Inscription on Leonard Matlovich’s tombstone.

On June 22, 1988, just a month before his 45th birthday, Matlovich died of complications from HIV/AIDS. He was buried in the Washington DC Congressional Cemetery because no military graveyard would allow it.

It was because of people like Leonard Matlovich that I chose to enlist in 1986 and served close to 10 years as a Navy Submariner – The Silent Service.
