From: Gizmodo ~ Your Dell Streak Questions (Mostly) Answered

Dell is announcing the 5 inch screen Android running Dell Streak to be sold in the US for $500! With no particular data plan or anything smart companies would have worked out already.

So the fact of the matter is that the Sprint HTC EVO 4G and the Verizon Motorola Droid X are both close to all these specs of the Dell having 4.3 inch screens and they are only $200 total after signing one of those two year contracts with the cell provider.

So I don’t know Hmmm… $200 and a data/cell contract and warranty or $500 and a big “thank you suckers” from Dell? Which would it be? I have a bad feeling this is going to not go well for Dell.

It’s one thing to offer a cool gadget but it’s another to package and sell it properly.

It’s really great to see the hackers are grabbing this Pandigital dog and seeing if they can get a real Android Tablet without the fleas. They have been able to load a new home screen and get all the different Android eBook Apps loaded on the thing. I have seen Kindle and B&N and Borders and Kobo so they can all function on this thing.

I have also seen claims of people finding the Pandigital on sale and with rebate offers making the price around $115 (A 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath & Beyond plus a $15 Mail-In-Rebate) which is a neat trick if you find it for such a low price.

Makes the effort to hack it to get it to work decently even more attractive. The point is IF you buy this thing to hack it then it is probably easier to accept a $115 loss if you end up “bricking it” or “breaking it” to put a bigger Micro-SD card in it or eventually root it so it can run Android’s latest version etc.

Someone I talked to was asking me about Windows Mobile 6 eBook Reader Apps for their HTC HD2 they got such a deal on…

Well, not much out there… You have the unique and interesting HTC eReader that you can find on the Winmo forums in a CAB that you can install and then TeleRead reminds me that B&N has their eBook Reader App for Windows Mobile 6.

Now for other models of phones out their I have no clue if any of this will work for your particular version of Windows Mobile due to the way some versions of Windows Mobile 6 WILL WORK with these Apps and other versions WILL NOT WORK.

That’s just the way Windows is and why I do not own one of their phones.

Blio: Now At Toshiba Book Place

So it looks like Blio found another company to hawk it’s wares for them. Toshiba come on down! Remember Microsoft was showing off the HP Slate running Blio at CES this year? Well, the HP Slate never happened.

The thing about Blio is I still do not see a Apple OSX App or an Apple iOS Blio App and I do not see an Android Blio App or a Linux based Blio App so the only way to use it is on your Windows based computer.

Seems rather limiting to me for a DRM multimedia eBook format that “says” it can “run on anything”.
